Rocky Mountain High Dudgeon

Still, a blogger's gotta do what a blogger's gotta do.

Still, a blogger’s gotta do what a blogger’s gotta do.

My comments on the XKCD strip got quite a large number of responses, many of them thoughtful and informative. While I didn’t respond to them all, I did read them, and thank you very much. It’s apparent that the strip’s readers are intelligent and capable of reasonable, mature responses.

Then there’s this idiot, who decided that my writings should be not just on his behalf, but everyone else’s as well. Naturally, he refused to sign his name to it.

I’ll omit the cursing. It’s base and dull and is the equivalent of this fellow unsnapping his full diaper and wiping it on the wall of his bedroom. But he added this lovely little threat as well:

Another reader used Adblock (it’s not just for ads, it can block any domain) I will one up his blocking of your domain and remove your entry from all our DNS servers so our users wont have to ever have to read your holier than thou bullshit.

A look at his IP address shows the signal as originating somewhere around Cody, Wyoming, demonstrating a connection between high altitudes and an increased risk of heads exploding.

He does point out a fundamental flaw of the current domain system. Those in positions of power can filter and silence those they don’t agree with. The Internet really needs to go back to a peer to peer system where the client/end user has the authority.

True, but I have no idea if this fellow is serious. Seems silly to go to the bother, considering how little of a reach by blog has.

Tell me what you think! I love to chat.
